Did someone steal your identity?

Was your identity stolen from someone you know?

This happens every day. Women and men fall

victim to identity theft each day. But, not the kind of

identity theft you hear on the news and internet.

You know the kind. Bob Jones credit cards are

being used across Nigeria. Someone used your

information to make purchases you didn't

authorize. No that is not the kind we are speaking about.

We are talking about the kind that you allow to happen.

Not because you didn't secure your passwords. You don't frequently run malware.

No, because you got sucked into not knowing who the hell you are. Therefore you allow that identity

to be stolen by the universe. You then assume the identity of your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, best

friend, or even your child.

Think about it 10 years ago you hated baseball but, now your new

boyfriend loves it. Suddenly you are sporting his favorite sports

swag. You are learning a game you never had an interest in. Two years

goes by and he dumps you for the waitress at the Denny's on the

corner. You now hate everything that reminds you of him.

Especially baseball. Your identity is once again lost.

Fast forward 10 more years. You are married. You have children. You

got so busy you forgot that you loved Taco Tuesday & $1.00 Margarita

Monday. You forgot that you love it when your outfits match. You

forgot

that you were once a very talented writer. No, now you wear #ZacsMom

T-shirts to soccer. Now you think you LOVE soccer. No no you don't you

hate sitting in the hot sun with other moms who hate soccer.

Listen it's ok to not like these things. It's ok to be yourself. It's ok to

know that Zac loves soccer and you still have to show up and support

them but, you don't have to love it. It's ok to wear that pink mini

skirt with that hippy tye-dyed top because that's your style. It's ok

to tell everyone you love Margarita Monday and that is what you are

doing today. It's ok to write! Because that is you and that is what

you love to do.

I know I have spoken a lot about women but, men lose their identity

to. I know a guy let's call him John. John married let's say, Lilly. John

married Lilly and Lilly loves to garden. John has always hated to

garden. But, now he wears overalls and is out there with Lilly every

time she is planting

a rose bush. John still hates gardening. He also hates meatloaf but he

eats it every Friday and pretends he loves it. John use to go to

Nascar races each year but Lilly hates them so now he does too.

No! No! No!

John LOVES Nascar and craft beer. He misses it. Maybe Lilly doesn't

like those things but that is who John is. Now John has lost his

identity because he has assumed Lilly's.

This is what I have to say about all this. Lilly married John because

she loved him for him. Does she love him more because he has become

a clone of Lilly. No, she is annoyed that she married a man she doesn't

know.

Is Zac's mom a better Mom because she has assumed her child's

identity.

No! It's weird and she is boring. She is going to die never knowing who

she really was or could have been.

The lesson here is simple. Be yourself! Unless you can be a Wizard then

always be a Wizard.
